Most Ignored ECG Lead, aVR can be Lifesaver! “Short of Breath in Seattle!”
As if to rhyme with the famous Hollywood movie titled, 'Sleepless in Seattle', I saw a 64-year old man in my office in cardiac consultation who after having dinner with his son and daughter-in-law in Seattle was extremely short of breath while walking up a few stairs to his hotel room. متن کاملST elevation in lead aVR during exercise testing should not be ignored
Background: There is increased awareness of the need for cardiovascular (CVS) risk monitoring in the Northern Ireland population in general, and amongst rheumatoid arthritis and SLE patients in particular, who have a higher incidence of cardiovascular disease. No clear guidelines exist for cardiovascular risk monitoring in osteoporosis, and the prevalence and associations of known CVS risk fact...
متن کاملLead aVR, a mostly ignored but very valuable lead in clinical electrocardiography.
In this issue of the Journal, Yamaji et al. (1) report on the use of lead aVR in the diagnosis of acute left main coronary artery (LMCA) obstruction. More specifically, the investigators compare the behavior of the ST-segment in lead aVR with lead V1 in that situation. They report that in LMCA occlusion, more ST-segment elevation is present in lead aVR compared to lead V1. They also found a rel...
متن کاملMalassezia—Can it be Ignored?
Genus Malassezia comprises of 14 species of "yeast like fungi," 13 of which are lipophilic and 1 is nonlipophilic. They rarely also cause serious illnesses like catheter-related blood stream infections, CAPD associated peritonitis etc., Though these fungi have been known to m...
متن کاملSmall proteins can no longer be ignored.
Small proteins, here defined as proteins of 50 amino acids or fewer in the absence of processing, have traditionally been overlooked due to challenges in their annotation and biochemical detection. In the past several years, however, increasing numbers of small proteins have been identified either through the realization that mutations in intergenic regions are actually within unannotated small...
